Tiffanie Ting was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She received her B.A. in Art History and Psychology from the University of Toronto, her Ed.M in Arts and Museum Education and Ed.D in Culture, Communities, and Education from Harvard University. Her research focuses on cultural institutions, knowledge production, and learning.  She is particularly interested in the role of artists and museums as catalysts for community development, and issues of access, diversity, identity, and learning in museum and higher educational contexts.

Prior to beginning her doctoral work, Tiffanie was an Education Fellow at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, MA and Museum Educator at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.  She was also Director of Public Programs and Education at the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery in Kitchener, Ontario. There she oversaw the growth and development of learning-centered interpretive programs, and a community arts initiative called Arts Access in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario, Thunder Bay Art Gallery, and Woodland Cultural Center.

At Harvard, Tiffanie has served as a graduate-level teaching fellow for courses in the Arts in Education; Museums and Learning; The Sociology of Education; and Excellence, Ethics, and Engagement in the Professions. Additionally, Tiffanie has received a number of academic honors, grants, and funded fellowships. She was named a Harvard Art Museum Instructional Technology Fellow (2009-2010), and a Canada Research Fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (2008 – 2012).

Tiffanie currently serves as Allston Burr Resident Dean and Assistant Dean of Harvard College. She also is a Lecturer on Sociology and teaches undergraduate courses on education and culture.
